Me too, never heard of him before seeing this LC recording. However, on the cd box you can read the recording has been done in Canepina, VIterbo, Italy. (picture in https://www.amazon.it/Complete-Harpsichord-Music/dp/B0C6FC1YN1)
Canepina is a very small village (“borgo” in Italian) of only 3 houses and a church, outside Viterbo, in Central Italy, so the recording can only have been done in the workshop of Andrea Di Maio, the harpsichord maker, who lives and works there in Canepina. I assume the harpsichord is a Di Maio, probably a Vaudry or a Thibaut.
Andrea is a very fine harpsichord maker, and probably an even finer painter who decorates his own harpsichords and lids. Website: https://www.andreadimaio.it/.
Actually, it is the playing in this edgy tuning (described as “ordinaire” temperament at 392) in the recording of the first piece that I find doesn’t work. In fact, maybe the player, too, is a bit unsettled by the tuning. But I haven’t listened to the whole recording.
I forgot that promise I made to Barbieri … I just deleted my last post. Michael, can we take that temperament discussion off the Jackrail? Please email me.
