Emilia Fadini

Three days ago, on March 16th, Emilia Fadini is passed away. Her name is tied to Domenico Scarlatti, having been the editor of the complete works in critical edition (Ricordi) and the general editor of complete recordings on CD with several harpsichordists (Stradivarius).

I believe that her most important legacy is that, thanks mainly to her influence, for many years now throughout Italy the harpsichord curriculum in all the Conservatori is based on playing everything with historical fingerings. In this respect (and many others) Italy, decades ago a backwater about early music practices, is today at the forefront.
