UK Musical Instruments Resource Network

The UK Musical Instruments Resource Network (MIRN-UK; https://mirn.org.uk/) is holding a short (2hr) online event at 2.00pm BST on Friday 17 September, entitled Care for Your Instruments.

The aim is to bring together people interested in instruments of all kinds, including recent and current electronic instruments, to consider their care and conservation in a broad sense and to identify priorities for future meetings and research.

There will be two paper presentations followed by a wide-ranging discussion amongst a panel of instrument care stakeholders of various backgrounds: Peter Bavington, Gabriela Guadalajara, Alicja Knast, Gregg Miner, James Mooney, and Jonathan Santa Maria Bouquet.

Paper session:
Peter Bavington will speak about the future of training opportunities in early keyboard instrument making and maintenance.
Jonathan Santa Maria Bouquet will consider case studies of common issues arising from nineteenth-century guitar making practices.

For the full programme and for registration please see mirn.org.uk; registration is free, though there is opportunity to donate after registration.

For those of you unaware of MIRN, our aim, as one of the UK Subject Specialist Networks, is to promote the care and display of musical instruments in the United Kingdom.

Membership is free and is by no means limited to those based in the UK.

Please support MIRN by engaging with this event and publicising it to any who may be interested.
