A user today asked me why his mail was apparently stripped, in relation to their signature, after the standard ‘–’ line.
To clarify and set expectations correctly, Discourse is a web based forum, that also supports say 90% of traditional mailing list functions. But there’s a pretty universally accepted convention on web forums not to append signatures, as they are regarded as basically noise, and they do get very repetitive in active discussions. So Discourse strips signatures for posts submitted by email. I prefer to leave this setting on, as it makes for much cleaner topics.
